A Taste of Wellness Eastern Cape

A Taste of Wellness Eastern Cape is a community-based initiative dedicated to inspiring wellbeing, connection, and conscious living across the region. We bring together practitioners, educators, and wellness enthusiasts to create experiences that nurture body, mind, and spirit. Rooted in collaboration and local community, we believe that wellbeing flourishes when people come together to learn, share, and grow. Our invitation is to be curious about differing approaches to optimal health including aspects of creativity, movement, breathwork, environment, food growing, soil, mindset, music, frequency, energy and above all to be open to change the tint of the glasses through which we view our current world.

Our aim is to feature all events, festivals, retreats, workshops, online courses and wellness offerings around the Eastern Cape on the website as a holding basket for all to view in one place. The practitioners are encouraged to collaborate with verified information about their offerings, their journeys and even their personal treatment approaches on this site. We endeavour to support each other and meet occasionally through the year to share ideas, approaches and knowledge.

One expression of this growing collaboration is the Wellness festival, hosted in Kenton, launched in 2024 to celebrate connection, community and holistic living – learn more here
We see an annual calendar developing as we grow thus offering the viewer an overview to all on offer in the Eastern cape and offering practitioners an opportunity to collaborate of retreats, events and workshops if desired.
We envisage A Taste Of Wellness – Eastern Cape as the umbrella under which co-marketing, colaboration and co-support will collectively enrich the offerings of each practitioner while still maintaining their individual identity and brand.

Our Founders

Kim van Niekerk is a holistic Ayurvedic practitioner, yoga instructor, earth advocate and food therapist with a passion for integrative health and sustable living. Her work bridges traditional healing wisdom with an approach to wellness that includes disease prevention and management through lifestyle and food choices and supportive therapies. Kim’s personal family journey has shaped this journey and inspired the over 40 years of learning and teaching. Kims has run workshops and retreats and many educative days on these topics and her passion keeps her investigating.

Dr. Susie McGarvie is a mindfulness-based therapeutic coach, counsellor, and educator with a background in nursing, palliative care, psychology, and mindfulness. Her work blends evidence-based wellbeing practices with embodied presence and compassion. Susie practices from her home and is well loved and respected for her calm, supporting and practical approaches to all the challenges brought to her from all ages. She is particularly passionate about supporting practitioners and thus her role in a Taste of Wellness both live and online is within this realm. Susie supports many online communities and education centres worldwide as she is an respected facilitator and mentor in her field.

Together, Kim and Susie founded A Taste of Wellness Eastern Cape to cultivate a network of practitioners and community events that make wellness accessible, grounded, and locally rooted.

It is envisaged that this space will mutate to a practitioners community forum of offerings, questions, collaborations and chat groups offering the viewer a holistic choice of approaches.

Supporting Practitioners

At A Taste of Wellness Eastern Cape, we believe that those who hold space for others also need spaces of their own for reflection, support, and growth.

As the practitioners coach and therapist, Dr Susie McGarvie offers guidance and supervision to wellness professionals, counsellors, and coaches seeking to deepen their self-awareness, prevent burnout, and strengthen their capacity for compassionate presence. Through one-on-one sessions, group reflection, and mindfulness-based support, Susie helps practitioners stay grounded, inspired, and connected to their purpose so they can continue to serve others with integrity and care.
